June 2010 Newsletter

From The Director:
June is such an exciting time for us at Care-A-Lot! We are getting ready to see our preschoolers graduate on June 16th. So many of them have been with us since they were newborns and I feel so lucky to have been able to take part in their early childhood education and can’t believe how quickly the years have gone! We are also getting ready for Summer Camp. Each year brings so many fun activities for the campers - I am sure this year will not disappoint! We have had several evenings the bridge has been an issue and getting here for pick up has been difficult for some. Please be sure to have an alternate pick up for your child/ren in case you are stuck in traffic. If you would like to add somebody to your pick up list just let me know. I will be on vacation from June 2 until June 8. Please let Miss Debbie or Miss Kim know if you need assistance while I am gone. Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful Dad’s!

Nursery 1: Check out all of our new footprint art! We made raindrops, bumblebees, caterpillars, butterflies and flowers. We have lots more coming so keep your eyes open. Make sure you send sun block in for your child if he/she is old enough to wear it. We would also appreciate a sun hat. Soon we will send a note for bathing suits and towels so we can splash in the water. This month is all about the great outdoors! We will spend some time hanging out on the shady playground and learning about our world. Claire and John are doing a great job pulling up and they are getting ready to move over to Nursery 2 - we will miss them. Aaron, Morgan and Aaliyah are all rolling and crawling about having so much fun and exploring everything they can get their hands on!

Nursery 2: Summertime is so much fun! We will be learning all about the Outdoors! We will be singing lots of songs about our friend Mr. Sun and reading books about the summer fun we plan to have! We are sad that we will say a temporary good-bye to our friends Nicholas and Abby this month - enjoy your summer and we will see you in September! We are excited for our friends TJ and Nevaeh who are moving up to Toddlers this month. Way to go! We will welcome John and Claire from Nursery 1 this month - we look forward to having you in our group. We are all enjoying long walks and excited to start having some water play fun once the weather is a little better!

Toddler 1: The Little Engine made it to the end of the track! We have now stopped for a visit to the circus! The whole month of June will be CIRCUS FUN! There are so many things at the circus to learn about and do in our classroom! We will have such a silly month and it will be so much fun!! If you have not yet brought in sunscreen for your toddler please do so - we have been spending lots of time outdoors in the sunshine.

Toddler 2 :This month the children will enjoy learning about the Circus! We are talking about clowns and animals and yummy, yummy circus foods! There are so many fun colors and activities under the big top and we can’t wait to explore them all! Be sure that you have sunscreen for your child - we are spending lots of time outdoors. The children have enjoyed the change of scenery and we are loving taking art or circle time outdoors with us each morning.

Preschool 1: PRESCHOOL 1: We are having so much fun working with the colors of the rainbow! We have mixed colors to create new colors - what a fun experiment. We painted a colorful bulletin board to remind us of spring. We will continue to work with colors as we learn about planting seeds and watching them grow into beautiful flowers. We will also learn about bugs that we see flying and crawling around when we are outdoors. We are getting very excited about our first fieldtrip to Kelkenberg Farms. We will see and do so many things that day! We would like to welcome our newest friend Riley to the class and we would like to say good-bye to our good friend Owen who is taking the summer off! Last but not least we would like to wish Kyleigh a very happy Birthday!

Preschool 2 & UPK:Our big day is almost here. The class has been very excited preparing for our Graduation Night at Sidway on June 16th. Please let us know how many guests you are bringing - there is a sign up sheet outside the classroom door. June 16 will a double fun day for us as it is also our fieldtrip to Kelkenberg Farms. We’ve finished out “What I Learned..” books and our journals. Both will be cherished keepsakes of your child’s time in preschool. Please know how much we have enjoyed spending time with your child and we wish them much success in the future. For those who will remain with us for summer camp we will have lots of fun and keep reviewing our skills. For those of you who are enjoying a summer off we will miss you! Songs have been learned, excitement is high and we can’t wait for you to join us on our special night!

Schoolagers:Good-bye School and Hello Camp! School is coming to an end and summer camp is almost here! We are getting ready to kick off summer with some very exciting activities! Very soon we will be sending our a summer camp booklet with information about our themes, trips and items your child will need. We are looking forward to a long and fun filled summer. If you are taking the summer off we hope you enjoy it and that we see you back again this fall! We are finishing up with our “Teacher of the Day” and the children have really enjoyed their turn as “teacher”! With the warmer weather we are taking advantage of playing outdoors - please be sure your child has sneakers each day so they can safely use the playground equipment.
