February 2010

From The Director:Even though February is a short month, it promises to be an exciting one here at Care-A-Lot. We have many exciting things planned for all of our rooms, from a Valentines parade to a Valentines puppet show.

February is also Dental Heath month, so we will be going over the importance of brushing our teeth regularly and the Preschoolers will visit the Dentist at our Derby center.

Please remember to bring your child's blanket home with you on Fridays so we may have a freshly washed one at the beginning of the week - this helps with keeping the spread of germs in check. Thank you. Miss Theresa


NURSERYThis month the Nursery will be filled with wagging tails, puppy sounds and dogs of every kind. The theme this month is puppy dog tails. We will be reading books about dogs as well as learning new puppy dog songs. I will be bringing in a basket of assorted dog puppets and stuffed animals for the kids to snuggle and play with. If you have a dog at home, please send in a picture to hang around the room.

We will also be making Valentines and Valentines decorations this month.

TODDLERS

The month of February will be exciting in the toddler room. We will be learning all about Care Bear Adventures! We will be reading stories and singing songs about our feelings. We have a ton of fun projects planned, such as friendship necklaces and wishing stars!

We also have some Valentines projects up our sleeves, so stay tuned!

Preschool

'Circle of Friends' will be the focus for our Preschoolers this month. We will be learning about building friendships and what qualities we look for in a friend. The children will also be working together to build a friendship quilt. 'Rainbow Fish' will be our primary book this month and we will be decorating our own fish books! In addition we will be celebrating Valentines Day with a parade and sharing Valentines with our friends. And we will celebrate Dental Health month and learn all about healthy brushing habits with a trip to the Derby center to hear from Dr. Casey.
