June 2010

From The Director:Our academic year is coming to a close and another graduation/moving up ceremony is upon us. My how quickly the time went by. Please join us in this wonderful celebration on June 23rd at 6:30pm.

As always in June is the annual End of the Year Field Trip. This year brings us back to the farm. We will be visiting Kelkenburg Farms in Clarence. There will be many things to see and do there like, pony rides, a farm tour and a picnic lunch.

We will continue to run curriculum through the summer months we will spend a lot of time outdoors. Water play is a big part of our summer so please be sure your child has a suit, towel and water shoes to participate.

And finally as always sneakers are the only acceptable shoes allowed for Care-A-Lot. We are protecting those precocious piggies.

Any questions feel free to see me.

Miss Karen

Dates To Remember in June:
16-End of the year field trip to Kelkenberg Farm
20-Father's Day
23- Graduation / Moving up day ceremony
25-Last day of LSC

NURSERY 1 - Things are becoming more lively in the nursery. We have lots of one on one attention going on with Luke and Miss Jessica. He has begun to coo more as well as eat. They have been outside to enjoy the warm weather along with the nursery 2 kids.

The nursery 2 kids seem to really do well with Luke. They all love to see the baby and talk with him.

We are very excited to see what Luke has in store next. Hopefully we will enroll some friends for him.

Thank you! Miss Jessica

NURSERY 2 - The warm weather seems to have arrived and finally going to stick. We are all so glad, the kids love their outdoor time. Over the next few weeks it would be great if you could bring in a bathing suit, water shoes and sunscreen if you haven't done so already.

This month is all about "The Great Outdoors". We will split the month up into weeks like grass, sun, birds and swings. We will go on a nature walk to find objects to make a nature mobile with. One project we will work on will be making binoculars to use on our walk. We will be all about the outside.

Painting along the fence will be a fun project that we will be doing. We will have story time under the tree on a blanket. We might even get a game of baseball together. Lunch outside sounds like a good idea too.

Please be sure your child's cubby has the appropriate weather clothing in them please. Also if you would like you can send in a hat for our delicate heads.

I would like to wish all our dads a Happy Fathers Day.

Miss Dawn

TODDLER - Summers here Yippee!!! Now that the warm weather is finally here we will be spending a lot of time outside. We do play in water everyday and now is a great time to begin sending in water shoes or old sneakers to be worn outside. SANDLES ARE NOT PERMITTED AS WE TEND TO TRIP AND STUB OUR TOES. Also if you have not done so yet please send in sunscreen and bug spray. You may also send a water bottle if you wish. All of our cubbies need to be changed out and new clothes brought in.

It's going to be a very busy month. We are getting ready for our moving up ceremony as well as preparing to accompany the preschool class with the end of the year field trip to the farm. We will all need a packed fully disposable lunch. Please no peanut butter due to allergies.

We will be exploring Under The Big Top in our classroom this month. Week one will be spent clowning around with big shoes, silly hats and of course a red nose.

Week two is the training of the circus animals. Week three tumbling on the mat will be the subject just like acrobats. And our last week is the peanut (circus of course) parade. We will also be working on our Fathers Day gifts. Whew what a busy month.

As always feel free to talk to Miss Jen or myself with any questions or concerns.
Enjoy the Sun, Miss Tina and Miss Jennifer

PRESCHOOL 1 - This month's curriculum is a favorite of mine. It's called "Come into My Garden". Our first week we will discover, "Our Need for Seed". I have many science activities planned for this month. We'll discuss similarities and differences among a variety of seeds. Young minds will sprout new knowledge about the importance of seeds in their world. Next week's unit is called "flower power. We'll plant a garden with a variety of flowers and vegetables. We will record their growth in journals while enlightening our vocabulary with words like, photosynthesis and discuss what plants need to grow. The following week is "Berry Busy with Plants We Love to Eat. Fruits and Berries is what is all about. A sweet surprise for our youngster to help ripen their knowledge about our need for seed. Finally we will practice our picnic etiquette and pull up a patch of green to begin a unit with grass. Our senses will become sharper as we use and discuss the way the grass looks, feels and smells. All while fitting in our much needed and like water play.

We are busy, busy working on our moving up day songs which we will perform for your parents and friends on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at 6:30pm. Hope to see you all there.
Think Warm, Miss Bailey

PRESCHOOL 2 - WHappy June everyone! Warmer temps are here and outside play is part of our daily activities. Please be sure that your child has sunscreen and bug spray here as well as our water play items such as, bathing suits, towels and water shoes. Moving up/graduation will be on June 23rd at 6:30pm. Please have your child here at 6:15 so I can get everyone ready. This month's curriculum we will celebrate with Dr. Seuss. Oh the fun we will have. I would like to read a new story everyday so if you have any Dr. Seuss books at home that you could bring in for us to borrow that would be greatly appreciated. Rhyming will be a big part of our curriculum as well as writing basic words. We know how to write the letters, now we will put them all together to make simple words. We will also continue with the numbers11-20. To help us along with them we will play number matching games as well as memory games. Cooking up some "green eggs and ham" we will put our math and cooking skills to the test. During our outside time we will go on a walk and chart what we see, hear and smell. We will be using the water table to measure and record our findings.

Finally our end of the year field trip to the Kelkenberg Farm will be on Wednesday June 16th. Please be sure to turn in money and permission slip by the 14th.

Happy 5th Birthday to Lexie on the 27th and a Happy Fathers Day to all our Dads.

Happy Fathers Day,Miss Dianne and Miss Michele

School Age-

Wow can you believe school ends at the end of the month. That means only one thing. Summer Program gets on the way. I would like to take this time to welcome Miss Nicole to the family. She is a certified teacher who has worked with all ages and I feel that see will definitely benefit our program.

I do have an outline for the summer if you would like to see a copy. Feel free to stop and get one. I am looking forward to a great summer full of fun.
