November 2008

From The Director: November is a Month of being thankful. I want to thank all the parents and staff for being so patient with this transition to director. I would like everyone to know if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask.

As the weather is changing also should be the extra clothes in the cubbies. The children still spend a great deal of time outside. We are very excited about the upcoming events. The family food festival is one of the favorites of the staff as well as the children. I can't wait to see what interesting recipes come to us this year.

Dates To Remember in November:
17-Preschool Fieldtrip to Tops Markets
25- Family Food Festival

NURSERY 1 - oh my! Can you believe its November? This month we will be taking a look at star and moon shapes. The children are becoming more aware of colors and shapes around them. Coming up this month will be our Traditional Family Festival. Be on the look out for the Recipe hand out.

While the weather is getting colder, please check cubbies for appropriate clothing. Please be sure your child has a warm coat, hat and gloves as we still go out in the buggies if the weather is right.

There were only a few milestones this month. Douglas is rolling over. Emma is rolling front to back. Will is crawling backwards and Reese is all over the room crawling and exploring. They seem to be getting so big so fast.

We would like to welcome our newest friend who will be starting in late November or early December, Nicholas. We will welcome him with lots of love. We are also looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

We would also like to welcome Miss Angelina! Miss Angie worked at our Lakeview Center and has two daughters of her own, so she has lots of experience with little ones.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Miss Bailey and Miss Angelina

NURSERY 2 - November already! A month for family, friends and, of course, lots of food. This month we will spend time talking about "Family". We will be spending lots of time with our little friends and begin working on saying our siblings' names. If you have not already done so, this is a great time to send in pictures of your family. All pictures will be photo copied and returned to you.

We are still spending a lot of time outside daily, please be sure your child has appropriate jacket and a hat that covers the ears. We are all getting very big and our LAP evaluations show just that. If you would like to discuss your child's score feel free to set up a time where we can do so. I would love to discuss them with you.

We would like to wish Amelya a Happy 1st Birthday on the 12th and we would like to welcome our newest addition the Care A Lot family, Brooke.

Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

Miss Tina and Miss Stacy

TODDLER - The cold weather is on its way, so please send your child in a coat. If you could leave hats, mittens and a warmer set of clothes in your child's cubby that would be great. We try to go out everyday, even in the snow. Eventually we will need boots and snow pants too!

Last month we had a great month exploring our colors and leaves. This month will be "It's a jungle out there." We'll start with 'Lions and Tigers and Snakes, Oh my." We will learn through pictures and books plus doing many craft activities. Secondly it will be 'Animal homes and my home." We will talk about where animals live and what our houses look like. We will try to craft our own houses out of shapes and Popsicle sticks.

The third week is "Animal Families & My Family." This is a good week for this because as Thanksgiving nears we can discuss our families and the difference of other families and how much our family means to us. The last week is 'Monkeying around." We will sing monkey songs, eat like monkeys and make a special treat to eat, monkey bread and banana milkshakes.

If you haven't done so already please send in family photos and a photo of your home, I will copy them and send the originals back to you.

We would like to send out a very Happy 2nd Birthday to Serenity on November 20th. We would also like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our families.

Miss Dawn and Miss Jessica

PRESCHOOL 1 - Happy Fall. This month's curriculum will be focusing on 'Family" and "Giving Thanks". With Thanksgiving right around the corner this month will be jam packed with a cornucopia of vegetables. We will be working on family trees so watch for some leaves to come your way. On these leaves we will need you to label them with the names of parents, siblings and grandparents. Please only one family member name per leaf. Please feel free to add some pictures to be used.

We will be putting our cooking talents to use by making a batch of our own stone soup after reading the story. A trip to Tops Markets is in the works so keep an eye on those mailboxes for important info. Toward the end of the month we will be learning about the different home in which people and animals live in. And finally lets not forget Care-A-Lots Food Fest. We encourage you send in a dish and the recipe that may be important to your family. The recipes will be made into a book to share with the center. This month we are also going to talk about what we are thankful for.

As fall advances to winter (yuck) I ask that you please restock the cubbies with appropriate clothing and send the children in with coats, hats and gloves, as we will continue to go outside.

Happy Birthday to Alex on November 5. We would also like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Miss Dianne and Miss Michele

School Age-

School is back in swing and everyone is doing great. Not too many complaints of tons of homework as of yet. The children are still spending lots of time outside after school so please send in old shoes if you wish. Please check cubbies for any old summer clothes or art activities.

We would like to welcome back Miss Piper who has returned to help us with the after school program. We would also like to welcome Lindsay S. to the program she is a wonderful addiction to the Care A Lot Family.
